Celia Woodsmith is a busy musician these days. In addition to touring as a member of the acclaimed Della Mae, this past year she’s toured the world in a variety of musical projects. Western Massachusetts is fortunate to have one of those creative projects coming to the area. She will be appearing at Northampton’s Parlor Room as part of The Back Porch Festival. Celia will be performing with her band, Say Darling, in a tribute to one of country and popular music’s greatest voices, Patsy Cline.
Our conversation touches on her background as a native Vermonter and her early musical collaborations with Avi Salloway in Celia and Avi as well as the washboard rock n roll band, Hey Mama. Our conversation covers her experience with the American Music Abroad program which has taken her to 18 countries so far with Russia on the horizon for 2018. We talk about her side projects like Say Darling as well as her tribute to one of her “teachers” Patsy Cline. The audio includes songs from Say Darling, Della Mae and her collaboration with the Infamous Stringdusters.
