Lula Wiles is a trio of exceptionally creative young women whose self titled debut disc, released in 2016, has led to a very busy schedule full of shows far from their New England roots. Isa Burke, Ellie Buckland and Mali Obomsawin were raised in Maine, furthered their musical education at Berklee School of Music, toured internationally with their harmony rich original songs. The trio will be appearing locally at West Whately Chapel for the Watermelon Wednesdays Music Series on 7/31 (yes, it’s a Tuesday).
I caught up with songwriter, guitarist and fiddler Isa Burke to find out more about the show, the upcoming CD release of new material, and their songs which Aiofe O’Donovan, from I’m With Her as well as Crooked Still, calls “a stunning collection of self-penned songs about love, loss, and drinking- the perfect blend of modern and timeless.”
