John and Jill Turpin founded and direct the Manchester Vermont, Green Mountain Bluegrass and Roots Festival, which happens August 19-21 this year after a two year absence. John Turpin joined me on NineVoltHeart to announce this year’s lineup. We also talked a bit about the origins of the festival, it’s location and Vermont’s weather! The motto of the Fest is “Community, Collaboration and Inspiration” and this year’s lineup is a testament to those ideals. John’s comment that the festival is artist-centric and that’s it unique nature. The musicians get ample opportunity to play on each other’s sets, many have played together before. You can feel the difference in the performances!
The segment begins with an instrumental tune, “Coming Down from Green Mountain” which Andrew Marlin wrote in honor of his experience at the festival. Andrew’s band, Watchhouse”, will be one of this year’s headliners along with The Punch Brothers and Leftover Salmon. While this is only the initial lineup, it is loaded with amazing performers including Hawktail, Jacob Jolliff Band, Caleb Klauder’s Country Band, Twisted Pine and Christian Sedelmeyer! Other announced acts include Allison DeGroot and Tatiana Hargreaves, Bella White, Jeff Black, Carling and Will as well as Saints and Liars.
The festival is held at Hunter Park in Manchester Vermont and tickets and info are available at GreenMountainBluegrass.com
