Kat and Brad preview their Parlor Room show TONIGHT 4/24.

Brad Bensko and Kathleen Parks are an acoustic duo with a pop sound derived from well before they were born. The sounds of 1950’s through the 1970’s inhabit their tunes. Their set is full of original singer songwriting with a good dose of love songs. These two Berklee School of Music grads bring their songs and smiles with them TONIGHT, Sunday 4/24 at Northampton’s Parlor Room opening for Bill and the Belles.

Our conversation covers their mutual love of all things analog, Beatlesque harmonies and acoustic instruments. We talk about the influence of mentors like Paul Rishell and Annie Raines, acoustic blues musicians from Berklee. Kathleen talks about how she writes songs with this duo in mind versus her other musical project, Twisted Pine. Brad talks about his studio in Mystic Ct. called Bearded Cat Productions full of an ever expanding collection of analog recording equipment.

Kat and Brad have a self titled record out as well as an EP of live cuts from 2020’s Club Passim set. Follow them at katbradband.com but better yet, check out their live set of songs tonight at the Parlor Room.
