Joziah Longo from the Slambovian Circus of Dreams joined me on NineVoltHeart to chat about their upcoming local show at TFMA’s Shea Theater on 7/15. We explored the band’s origins as The Ancestor’s in NYC in the late 90’s morphing into Gandalf Murphy and the Grand Slambovians in Sleepy Hollow NY. They have garnered a huge dedicated following from incessant touring including the Falconridge Folk Festival. The band’s music is hard to categorize (which is a good thing) but somewhere between “surreal americana” and “hillbilly pink floyd” might do. Not that genres matter to this theatrical eclectic ensemble. They have recently released “A Very Unusual Head” to prove that point. Expect a show that delights all the senses; most of the songs are accompanied by “projectors” for an immersive experience. A movie for the mind, indeed. They are acclaimed for their live shows. “More than a concert, an encounter”.
We open the segment with a pollinator anthem “Beez; I know Where the Bees Have Gone” and finish with the title cut, “A Very Unusual Head”. Catch this unique band before they head off to Europe for a twice delayed tour.
